About Bri

Hi! I'm Brianna Curtis Sargent, the author of "The Willows: a novel," which is set in my Hallmark-esque hometown of Maysville, KY. You can call me Bri. The Willows is my debut novel, written over nearly 4 years as I processed the loss of several family members, including my father. It's a coming-of-age novel that explores young love, grief, addiction, and second chances.

Before I was an author, I was an editor. Having always been the girl who was secretly excited about "peer review day" in English class, I've always had a passion for the written word. As I discovered my love of editing, I also discovered just how vulnerable it can be to let someone else read your work—let alone have an editor critique it.

Because of that, my editing style is kind, encouraging, and I'd love to teach you along the way. If you're looking for someone who will be a partner in your journey toward publication, I'd love to help you.

In my personal life, I'm a wife and mother to three daughters. I spend most of my time when I'm not working acting as a taxi to my girls or attending their events. As a family, we enjoy spending time on the lake in the summer and dancing around the house the rest of the year.

Editorial Services...But Nice.

You wrote a book?! Go on with your bad self! Being able to hold that published book in your hands with your name across the front is BAD*SS, and I can't wait for you to experience that feeling.

Your words are meant for someone. Maybe that someone is you, or maybe it's thousands of readers. But they're meant for someone. And they're worth it. So, let's get to work and help this book live its best life. Shall we?

Readying your novel for the querying trenches? First-time author? Making sure your manuscript is clean before you self-publish? No matter where you are on this wild and crazy author ride, I'd love to help! I specialize in developmental editing, but also offer copy and line editing, simple proofreading, and manuscript assessments.

As a writer myself, I believe the relationship between author and editor should be a partnership...not a dictatorship. Therefore, I'm here to guide and lift up, not judge and tear down. Now, let's get your book ready for your readers!

Testimonials

Keller Hayden

"I've worked with Brianna Sargent on two books now, and I hope to never find another editor. Brianna has a keen eye for detail, a knack for spotting a plot hole, and a kindess that makes working with her on any project a true joy.
She has the unique ability to walk through your words with you as a legitimate partner. There's no ego attached to her suggestions--just a desire to make you a better writer and make your book the best it can be."

Author of "0-by-1"

"Brianna successfully edited a rather avant-garde, +80,000-word manuscript within a limited amount of time. She offered many wording/structural suggestions along the way - which were greatly appreciated. She demonstrated in-depth knowledge of some rather complicated subject matter and this was demonstrated in her many rewording suggestions. She did not hold back on pointing out what she thought was incorrect and highlighted areas that she felt were effective. This is what every author desires from an editor. Brianna was very easy to work with and communication was effective and expedient. If I ever engage in another literary project of this magnitude, I would not hesitate to recruit Brianna's editing services. This is not a "blowing smoke" review. She earned every star in her 5-star rating."

Kenneth Hughes

What impressed me most was Brianna's ability to improve the clarity, pacing, and
readability of the narrative without diminishing its emotional impact. A good editor
corrects words. An exceptional editor understands the author's purpose and helps those
words accomplish it. Brianna did exactly that.
As the principal author of Relentless Valor, I am deeply grateful for the care she brought
to this project. This book represents the experiences of hundreds of Vietnam veterans
and, above all, is intended to honor the veterans who served, fought, sacrificed, and, in
too many cases, never came home.
Brianna understood that responsibility.
